NATIONAL DEFENCE COURSE

AIM

     To enable the participants to study all essential factors bearing in National Security to prepare them for assignments at the policy planning level.

CURRICULUM

• Fundamentals of Strategy & Statecraft.
• Defence Policy and Military Strategy.
• Socio – Political Environment and National Security Process.
• Economy for Strategists.
• Strategic Management.
• Regional Studies.
• Research of Post-Graduate Standards.
• Study Tours both Inland & Abroad.

CONDUCT OF STUDIES

• Individual study and research through interaction within the course, with guest speakers and the faculty through talks, discussions presentations and visits both Inland & Abroad.
• Complete intellectual freedom in thought and expression.
• At the culmination of National Defence Course a National Strategy Paper is produced, analyzing strategic issues concerning Pakistan, while keeping in view the elements of National Power.

COURSE DURATION

• The course is spanned over 44 weeks.
• It commences in August and terminates in June (the following year).

PARTICIPANTS

• Brigadiers & equivalent from Pakistan Armed Forces.
• Joint Secretaries & equivalent from Pakistan Civil Services.
• Brigadiers/ colonels from Friendly Countries.
• Chief Executive Officers from Private Sector.
• Total of 76 participants undergo the course.

SELECTION CRITERIA PAKISTANI PARTICIPANTS

• Must be grade 20 officers.
• Must have good record of service.
• Must have potential for promotion to higher grades.
• Preferably Post Graduate.
