AIM
To enable the participants to develop a comprehensive understanding of
military, operational and nuclear environment, within the framework
of obtaining National Security Environment with a view to preparing them for assignments at higher command,
leadership and staff responsibilities.

CURRICULUM
The curriculum comprises four packages:-
- Foundation Studies:
Comprise Environment,
Nature of War, Strategic Thought, Strategic Leadership and Threat.
- Core Studies:
Consist of Military, Operational
and Nuclear Strategies, Military Methodology & Military History.
- Ancillary Studies:
Comprise Warfare, Development Strategy, Military and Staff
System.
- Research/Miscellaneous Studies:
Include Postgraduate
Research and Study Tours.
CONDUCT OF STUDIES
- Self generation through discussion and
presentations.
- Critical evaluation of the higher
dimensions of war through War Games.
- Freedom of thought.
- Study tours both inland & abroad.
SYSTEM OF WAR GAMING
- War gaming is the main stay of our regular
courses, which is essential to impart training in the operational
art of war.
- NDU has been established a state of the art
National War Gaming Centre.
- A NATO standard computer assisted war gaming system, known as
Joint Theatre Level Simulation System
commonly known as JTLS has been deployed in NDU.
COURSE DURATION
- The course is spanned over 44 weeks.
- It commences in August and terminates in June (the following
year).
PARTICIPATION
- The course has an intake of 76 Members from Armed Forces of
Pakistan. Bulk of them are Lt
Cols and equivalent from PN and PAF.
